Company profile

Bovard Insurance Group specializes in commercial insurance, employee benefits, and surety bonds. Bovard Insurance spun off from their parent company in 2006. This situation offered an opportunity to build a network from the ground up, with ten users at the time and almost no IT infrastructure. 

Business situation

All employees would need access to applications and communication systems. Access to internal systems from remote locations would allow the company to be more agile. Data security was the utmost priority. 

Technical situation

Almost no IT infrastructure except for printers, a phone system and a mix of old model desktops. This was a classic case for a terminal server network.

Solution

The solution for this case was to install a Microsoft Windows Server 2003 Standard, Exchange 2003 Standard and implement a Terminal Services environment to cover the user count. 

Benefits

The savings in desktops alone has paid for the terminal system installed at BIG. Over the last two years user count has grown to over 20. Terminal computing has enabled rapid growth and easy access to information. The entire workforce is on one system making support an internal affair between employees. Employees are able to work from anywhere via the internet.
