Established in 1999 Elmwood Reclaimed Timber is an industry leader specializing in milling old timber into flooring cabinet lumber beams and other new products. This environmentally friendly alternative to farmed lumber provides a richer distinctive product to the end user. 

Business situation

Elmwood wanted to procure ADC software to improve tracking of inventory and purchasing using a barcode system and their existing ERP.

Technical situation

Elmwood’s environment is similar to any outdoor lumberyard. It requires solid wireless connectivity to keep inventory accurate. The labels had to be large for a consistent user experience and able to withstand outdoor weather. A software solution that worked with their current ERP was a must.

Solution

The solution for Elmwood Reclaimed Timber was to use Maximum Data’s InTouch labeling system. It worked directly with Elmwood’s ERP. Tight Solutions refined the user experience installed the wireless equipment so that every work area and lumber storage area had reliable wireless access. New inventory is scanned in upon arrival, finished stock is searchable via a handheld, order picking is accomplished automatically.

Inventory is accurate and searchable by bin number. All inventory data is synchronized automatically to the sales CRM so that the salespeople know what is on hand. Various types of wood are categorized during intake so that they can be accurately stored with like types of material.
